In this article, we’ll explain all about renting a kimono at Kimono Rental Waraku, from reservation to departure, so you know what to expect. At our store, all kimono and yukata are available at the same price, so you can choose from any kimono in our lineup and style it in the traditional way or with a modern twist.
1.Reservation

Book anytime with our online form
In the booking form, select your preferred day to check for availability, then enter your desired plan, number of people, and any add-ons. Once you’ve entered your booking details, tap “Confirm reservation.” Review your booking details on the next page, then tap “Reserve” to complete your reservation. Check that the booking confirmation email has arrived to confirm your reservation has gone through.
If you can’t find a confirmation email, your booking may not have been completed successfully, or there may have been an error in the email address. Please email us via the contact form to check on your reservation status.

Please Note
- When booking online, please book at least one hour before your reservation slot. For last-minute reservations, please call us.
- There is no cancellation charge for cancellations made ahead of the reserved date, but same-day cancellations will incur a cancellation fee.
- Preview visits are only available when reserving a graduation hakama or coming-of-age furisode.
- Depending on store conditions, it usually takes between 45–75 minutes from arrival to be ready to leave in your kimono.
2.Arrival, reception, and payment

When you arrive, please tell the staff the name of your booking. We will ask you to fill out a simple form and give you a bag to store your shoes, clothes, and personal items. Payment is taken in advance.
Please Note
- If you have reserved as a group, please arrive together at the same time. It’s OK to arrive up to 5 minutes later than your reserved time, but if you will be 10 minutes late or longer, please call us.
- Payment is cash only.
- You will need your cloakroom number to collect your belongings later, so it’s a good idea to take a photo or memo of it for safekeeping.
3.Choosing your kimono and accessories

At Kimono Rental Waraku, you can choose from more than 500 styles of kimono, from simple designs to popular lace and retro looks! 4.Dressing & hair styling

Get dressed in your kimono quickly and elegantly to suit your plans, whether you prefer a comfortable fit for a day of walking around sightseeing, or a firm fit that will stay in place for a graduation ceremony or coming-of-age ceremony. Our plans include everything you need, so there’s no need to bring anything with you. No matter the occasion, our team of accredited kimono stylists and professional hairdressers with experience with bridal and celebrity clients will leave you looking your best from head to toe, with hair arranged in a Japanese style that suits your hair length and texture.

5.Choosing your bag and sandals

Select your favorite zori sandals to go with kimono or geta sandals to go with yukata. Next is your bag. You can select from a range of sizes, from small bags just big enough for a smartphone and wallet, to large bags that can hold a lot, or even take a browse of the feminine pearl decorated bags and lace detail bags available for a small add-on fee.
6.Departure

Once you’re dressed, hair is styled, and you’ve paid for everything, it’s time to be on your way! We recommend taking a photo or memo of your cloakroom number for safekeeping, as you’ll need it to get your belongings back later. Returns are until 5:30pm on the same day, so you have until then to explore freely and make the most of the day.
7.Return

Please return your kimono or yukata to the store by 5:30pm.
Let the staff know your cloakroom number when you arrive so you can change back into your everyday clothes.
Please Note
- We recommend taking a photo or memo of your cloakroom number for safekeeping
- Please ask the staff before you leave if you would like to return the kimono on the next day. You may not extend to next-day return after you leave the store.
- We cannot accept postal returns.
Next-day returns
Kimono Next-day Return (Add-on): ¥1,100
Furisode/Hakama Next-day Return (Add-on): ¥3,300
Please return the rental items by 12:00pm on the following day after your rental.
We cannot accept postal returns. Please bring ID with you if you would like to return the kimono on the next day.
