Our Staff’s Commitment at Waraku Kyoto Kimono Rental

Three Key Points Our Staff Cherish at Waraku Kyoto Kimono Rental

1. Providing Customer Service with Heart and Care

For many of our guests in their teens and twenties, renting a Kimono may be a completely new experience. When people think of Kimono rental in Kyoto, some may imagine it being stiff or formal — but at Waraku, we aim to change that image!

Our Kimono rental is designed to be casual, easy, and cute, allowing you to visit empty-handed and enjoy the experience spontaneously.
With locations not only in Kyoto (Gion and Kiyomizu) but also in the Kanto area (Asakusa and Kamakura), we make it easy for visitors at major sightseeing spots to enjoy Kimono rental without stress. Our hopes are simple yet sincere:

  • We want you to start your Kyoto adventure with excitement and a smile!
  • We want you to find your perfect Kimono coordination and feel even cuter than you imagined!
  • We want our shop to be filled with happy smiles and wonderful memories!

Even during busy times, our staff make every effort to ensure that every guest feels comfortable, welcome, and at ease. We are committed to kind, attentive, and friendly service so that you never feel anxious or rushed during your experience with us.

2. Simple and Easy-to-Understand Explanations

We always aim to explain everything in a clear and simple way so that even customers who are new to Kimono can feel completely at ease.

Many of the terms used in Kimono dressing can be unfamiliar or confusing if you’re not already familiar with traditional clothing. That’s why we make an effort to break things down and explain them in an easy-to-understand way, especially for first-time Kimono renters.

We also make sure to proactively communicate with our guests so that no one feels uncertain or left behind during their experience.

To help our first-time guests feel even more confident, we have put together a simple Q&A section. Please feel free to use it as a guide!

Q Do I need to bring anything for the Kimono rental?

A No need to bring anything! Our rental plan includes everything you need.

If you’re renting during the colder seasons, you are welcome to bring a scarf or stole for extra warmth. Wearing thermal inner wear like Heattech is also a great idea to stay cozy.

Q I’m a bit concerned about my body size. Will there be a Kimono that fits me?

A Absolutely! We carry larger size Kimonos, and we also have longer waist cords (Koshihimo) and Datejime belts for dressing. Larger-sized zori sandals and Geta are also available, so please feel at ease.

Q Can I choose my own Obi (belt) and accessories?

A Of course! You are welcome to choose your Obi and accessories to match your Kimono.

If you’re not sure what matches best, don’t worry — our staff will be happy to suggest combinations that bring out the best in your chosen look!

3. Our Mindset as Hospitality Professionals

At Waraku, our top hiring priority is not just technical skill, but the ability to provide warm, thoughtful customer service. No matter how talented someone may be at Kimono dressing or hairstyling, if they lack empathy or teamwork, it can ultimately affect the quality of service our guests receive.

We believe that the atmosphere of the store is the most important factor in ensuring that guests enjoy their best Kimono rental experience.

Both Kimono dressers and hairstylists work closely with guests, and before being professionals in technique, we aim to be professionals in hospitality. Our greatest focus is always “How can we help our guests enjoy their Kimono rental experience to the fullest?”

When welcoming our guests, we greet them warmly with “Irasshaimase” (“Welcome!”). When they return from their outing, we say “Okaerinasai” (“Welcome back!”). And when they leave after changing, we send them off with “Arigatou gozaimashita. (“Please have a safe journey home.”).
Since our founding, we have placed great importance on greetings. It may seem simple, but we believe that a single sincere greeting can completely change the atmosphere of a place.
We will continue to do our best every day to deliver the best service possible, and to make Waraku a place filled with smiles and wonderful memories.
