Furisode Rental in Kamakura – Top 3 Places to Visit
Kamakura is filled with historic landmarks and popular tourist places. Why not get yourself dressed in furisode and go for a leisurely walk? Furisode are typically worn only for Coming-of-Age ceremonies, but our plan lets you experience this elegant style more casually and affordably.
Here are a few recommended spots where you can enjoy Kamakura in a beautiful furisode:

1. Komachi Street
The first place we recommend is Komachi Street. It’s a must-visit spot you’ll pass on your way to Waraku Kamakura Kimono Rental.
Located between Kamakura Station’s East Exit and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, this shopping street spans about 600 meters from the large torii gate to the shrine.
One especially photogenic place is Sakura no Yumemiya Komachi Main Store, only a 5-minute walk from the station. Here, you can enjoy colorful sweet rice dumplings that are perfect for photos (you may have even seen them trending on social media already). Even just holding the cute sweet rice dumplings in your furisode will make for a perfect Instagram photo. Be sure to stop by here!
Just a minute away, you can find another popular Komachi Street destination called MAISON CACAO. As the name suggests, it’s the perfect place for chocolate lovers, and is so popular, people often line up to get in. Their most popular item is the “nama chocolate tart”.
Enjoying the refined taste of nama chocolate in a furisode is definitely an Instagram-worthy moment!
Highlights of Komachi Street
・plenty of photogenic desserts – it’s a must-visit street in Kimono
・a wide selection of trendy foods
・a lively street with a nostalgic atmosphere; always popular with tourists

2. Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
The next spot we recommend is Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, which is a spot everyone who rents a furisode in Kamakura is sure to visit.
This location is surrounded on three sides by mountains believed to channel strong “dragon energy”, and is known as “ryuketsu no chi”, a place where the earth’s energy gathers. It’s a well-known place believed to be a spiritual power spot. Many people in furisode take commemorative photos here.
When it comes to Kamakura, this is a place you definitely shouldn’t overlook. You’re able to enjoy seasonal scenery throughout the year, and there are plenty of Instagram-worthy locations that are perfect for taking photos in a furisode.
At the top of the stairs is the main hall. Climbing them in a furisode can be challenging, but the view from the top is truly beautiful!
Highlights of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu
・Kamakura’s sacred power spot for marriage, good matches, etc.
・beautiful surroundings in any season, with many photogenic spots
・entertaining atmosphere with dining options

3. Kamakura’s Great Buddha - Kotoku-in
The last spot we recommend is Kotoku-in, home to the Great Buddha of Kamakura, which is also a designated national treasure. Have you ever seen the Kamakura Great Buddha in person? Even if you haven’t visited, you’ve probably seen it in photos at some point.
It’s a bit farther out – just one stop from Kamakura Station on the Enoden Line to Hase Station, and then a 7-minute walk. Riding the train in a furisode, though, adds a bit of travel-like excitement!
In addition to the Great Buddha, the temple grounds also feature the Niomon Gate and Nio statues. While they don’t match the scale of the Buddha, their presence is still impactful.
There’s a strong contrast between the traditional-styled furisode and the grandeur of the Buddha and Niomon, but that contrast makes for an emotional and visually unique experience. Because of that reason, it’s become a very popular sightseeing spot.
If you come here, please take this opportunity to take some memorable photos of the furisode and Great Buddha!

・Kamakura’s best known treasure
・one station away from Kamakura Station
