Things to keep in mind when renting yukata in Asakusa as a student

Access from the station and to sightseeing spots

While yukata is easy to walk around in once you’re used to it, you may find that you walk a little slower than usual if it’s your first time in yukata. Our store is only a minute’s walk from Asakusa Station, 3 minutes to Sensoji Temple and Kaminarimon, and 2 minutes to Nakamise Shopping Street, so you can pick up and return your yukata on your way to and from the sights. Make the most of your time without worrying about getting back in time to return your yukata or catch the train home.

When booking a yukata rental, check that it includes all the parts of the outfit that you need. At some stores, you might have to pay extra for hair styling or for the yukata you want. At our store, all yukata are available at the same price, even vintage styles or popular brands. Our yukata rental plans also include hair styling for women, so your look will be perfect from head to toe.

Time needed to rent your yukata

It takes about 15 minutes for us to dress you in the yukata and another 15 minutes for hair styling. The entire process including reception, selecting a yukata and accessories, and storing belongings, typically takes around an hour to an hour and a half. On quiet days, you can be out in 45 minutes, but during busy seasons, please allow for around an hour and a half. The time you’ll need depends on how long it takes to select the yukata and accessories, as well as how busy the store is on that day, so please take these times as a reference only.

・Junior and middle school students can use this plan, but sizes are only available for the above heights.

・Please return the yukata directly to the store. We cannot accept postal returns.

Ideal spots for students to enjoy yukata in Asakusa

Sensoji Temple, visited by more than 30 million people every year

Sensoji Temple is said to be the oldest temple in Tokyo, and is a must-see for students visiting Asakusa in yukata! Start from Kaminarimon just across from our store and make your way down Nakamise Shopping Street to Sensoji Temple to experience Asakusa’s golden route. The temple is home to many spots that are perfect for photos in your yukata, such as the famous stone bridge in front of the Five-Storied Pagoda. Here you can capture the main temple hall and the Five-Storied Pagoda in one backdrop, or take photos of the koi carp swimming under the stone bridge for a traditional Japanese taste. Retro style yukata are especially fitting for the nostalgic vibe of this area, so come to our store to find the perfect rental piece.

Japan’s oldest theme park, Asakusa Hanayashiki

Asakusa Hanayashiki is a much-visited spot by students renting yukata for the day to enjoy a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. Park entry costs an admission fee, but there are several picturesque areas just outside of the park too. One such popular spot is the Panda Post Box., home to an adorable statue of the panda car, one of the mascots of Asakusa Hanayashiki. Inside the park is bustling with an old Japanese atmosphere typical of Asakusa, from thrill rides to festival-style games like a shooting range and hoop throwing. These charming traditional spots are a perfect match for yukata. Even if you decide not to go inside, the exterior of the park is still a must-visit, so we recommend taking a look.

Nishi-Sando shopping street for a nostalgic atmosphere

The Nakamise Shopping Street that leads to Sensoji Temple is the most famous street in Asakusa, but Nishi-Sando Shopping Street, on the west side of the temple, is another interesting area with fun things for students to do in yukata. At the entrance to this shopping street is “Kazaguruma no Kabe,” a wall decorated with colorful pinwheels that change every season, making this a picturesque spot with a nostalgic seasonal feeling. This shopping street is also home to stores with a festival atmosphere, where you can catch goldfish at Asakusa Kingyo or try your hand at the shooting range at Asakusa Syatekijo. Filled with retro charm, this street is the ideal backdrop to enjoy your yukata rental. Ass it’s close to Sensoji Temple, take a walk here after visiting the temple.
