I reserved a Couples Plan. Can we show up separately?
No. You both must be present in order to take advantage of the Couples Plan.
Can I add some optional items?
Yes. You can add optional items on the day of your visit. Please ask our staff if you would like to do so.
Do I need to bring anything with me?

Three Things to Consider Before Renting

1: Can couples choose Kimonos together?
Absolutely! We offer a unique experience by placing our men's and women's Kimonos in one area, making it easier for couples to select coordinated outfits. Find the perfect Kimonos for you and your partner!

2: Use the restroom beforehand.
There are many places to enjoy food and drink around Gion and Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto. Because a Kimono is fitted with an obi and waist belt, going to the restroom often is not a good idea, as it can cause the Kimono to become misaligned. It’s best to use the restroom before putting on your Kimono and to be mindful of what you eat and drink.

3: Is your shop close to tourist destinations?
Many of our customers wear a Kimono for the first time. Kimonos can be harder to walk in and climb stairs. The walk could be more challenging than expected if the rental shop is far from the tourist destinations. We have shops in Gion and Kiyomizu, close to major tourism attractions, to help reduce extra walking.
How long does it take to rent a Kimono?
From check-in to departure, it typically takes about 60 to 90 minutes depending on how much time you spend selecting your Kimono and accessories. It typically takes about 15 minutes to get dressed and another 15 minutes for hair styling.

Recommended Kimono Date Spots in Kyoto

Yasaka Shrine
Yasaka Shrine is known for bringing good luck in marriage and is a popular tourist destination for those renting Kimonos in Gion. As the head shrine for all Yasaka Shrines in Japan, it features a national treasure main hall and over 20 important cultural properties. The shrine is famous for its autumn leaves, attracting couples in Kimonos for photos. The vibrant vermilion color of the main hall makes an excellent backdrop for memorable social media pictures.

Yasaka Koshindo at Kongoji Temple
Many people renting Kimonos in Gion take photos with the colorful kukuri monkey in the background. These monkeys are very popular and often sell out by the evening, so we recommend visiting early.

Kodaiji Temple
Kodaiji Temple was built by Nene, the wife of Hideyoshi, in memory of her husband. The temple is well-known for its cherry blossoms in spring and colorful leaves in autumn. Even though it is a bit far from Gion-Shijo Station, many tourists visit the temple. The five buildings designated as important cultural properties and the stunning bamboo grove are excellent backdrops for your photos.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a 5-minute walk from our Kiyomizu shop, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kyoto. It is famous for its beautiful autumn leaves, and strolling in a Kimono will enhance the experience. The approaches to the temple —Kiyomizuzaka, Nineizaka, and Sanneizaka—are filled with souvenir shops and great photo spots.
