Our Customers’ Favorite Tourist Destinations in Kyoto

Yasaka Shrine
Yasaka Shrine in Gion, Kyoto, is a popular tourist place and a great place to stroll in a Kimono. As the head shrine for all Yasaka Shrines in Japan, it features a national treasure main hall and over 20 important cultural properties. It has many beautiful spots for taking photos, allowing visitors to experience Japan's history. The Gion Festival, one of Japan's major festivals, takes place at Yasaka Shrine from July 1 to July 31. Many people visit during this time. The shrine is also known to help with matchmaking, making it a popular destination for students. Be sure to visit Yasaka Shrine after renting your Kimono in Gion!

Yasaka Koshindo at Kongoji Temple
Many people renting Kimonos in Gion take photos with the colorful kukuri monkey in the background. These monkeys are very popular and often sell out by the evening, so we recommend visiting early.

Hanamikoji Street
Hanamikoji Street is one of the main streets in Gion, lined with numerous shops and restaurants, and a 3-minute walk from our Gion shop. The elegant streetscape of Kyoto complements the traditional Kimono, making it a popular destination for international tourists! If you are lucky, you might even see Geiko or Maiko on their way to a teahouse!

Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a 5-minute walk from our Kiyomizu shop, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kyoto. It is famous for its beautiful autumn leaves, and strolling in a Kimono will enhance the experience. The approaches to the temple —Kiyomizuzaka, Nineizaka, and Sanneizaka—are filled with souvenir shops and great photo spots.

Kodaiji Temple
Kodaiji Temple is renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and vibrant autumn leaves, and it's only a 5-minute walk from our Kiyomizu shop. Walking through the temple's lush natural surroundings in a Kimono takes you back in time. The temple also offers special nighttime viewings, so if you choose our next-day return option, you can enjoy a delightful evening stroll in a Kimono.
