But at Kyoto Kimono Rental Waraku, you can simply call us on the day you want to rent, and we’ll take care of it. You can also easily book online — just check the current availability and fill in the required info to reserve your yukata.

Is the Rental Shop Close to the Station and Tour Spots?

Even if a rental kimono shop is near a train station, sometimes it can be a bit far from the main streets or popular sightseeing spots. For first-timers renting a yukata, walking around in unfamiliar geta or zori sandals can actually be pretty tiring.
Kyoto Kimono Rental Waraku has four convenient locations, all easy to get to and close to major tourist areas.

Kyoto Gion Store
Waraku Gion store is just a 1-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station on the Keihan Main Line. It’s super close to Gion’s main street, Yasaka Shrine, and Hanami-koji (which is a famous spot for sightseeing). Renting and returning your yukata here is easy, and since the top tourist spots are just a short walk away, you will be fine even if you’re not used to wearing a yukata.

Kyoto Kiyomizu Store
Waraku Kiyomizu store is about a 5-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and close to Kodaiji Temple and Yasaka Koshindo as well — a great spot for renting a yukata while sightseeing. Walking along the charming streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, you’ll find plenty of souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes. Why not rent a kimono and enjoy the charming, traditional streets of Kyoto?

Kyoto Arashiyama Store
Waraku Arashiyama store is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Arashiyama Station on the Randen Line and 6 minutes from Saga-Arashiyama Station on the JR Line. You’re right near Togetsukyo Bridge and Arashiyama shopping street, making it easy to rent a yukata while exploring this beautiful area.

Kyoto Station Store
Waraku Kyoto Station store is only a 1-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station, Kyoto’s main gateway. From here, you can easily access famous sightseeing spots like Kiyomizu-dera temple and Arashiyama by train or bus. This convenient, station-close shop makes renting and returning your yukata easy. Around this store, we also have the famous Kyoto Tower and Higashi Honganji Temple.

Dressing takes about 15 minutes, and hairstyling takes another 15 minutes. But when you factor in checking in, choosing your yukata and accessories, and swapping your bags, it usually takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. If it’s not busy, we can get you ready in about 45 minutes. During peak seasons, it’s best to estimate around 1 hour. The exact time depends on how long you take to pick out your yukata and accessories, so please use this as a rough estimate.

Yasaka-Shrine

Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto’s Gion district is one of the most famous spots for sightseeing and a must-visit for students renting yukatas. The bright vermilion main hall, which is a National Treasure, goes really well with a modern-retro yukata look!
Yasaka Shrine is also famous for the Gion Matsuri, one of Japan’s top three festivals. Inside the shrine grounds, you’ll find the Daikokunushi Shrine, known for bringing good luck in love and relationships — a popular spot especially among students.

Keage Incline

A little farther from Gion-Shijo Station, the Keage Incline is just about a 10-minute taxi ride from our store. It’s an old inclined railway track near Nanzen-ji Temple and a famous cherry blossom spot in Kyoto where the cherry trees are in full bloom every spring.
Many people renting yukatas in Kyoto come here to take photos with the beautiful cherry blossoms and the old railway tracks. It’s a super photogenic place that gives off a nostalgic Taisho-era vibe, making it a perfect match for retro-style yukatas.
You can easily walk around and enjoy the scenery even while wearing a yukata, so we definitely recommend students visiting Kyoto to check it out!

Hanamikoji Street

Hanami-koji street is a popular spot in Gion where you can still see classic old Japanese stone streets. It’s one of the favorite spots for people renting yukatas in Kyoto’s Gion district. The nostalgic Kyoto atmosphere pairs perfectly with modern retro-style yukatas, and taking pictures here makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time.
You might even spot geiko or maiko (traditional Kyoto entertainers) on their way to tea houses, if you are lucky!
Along Hanamikoji Street, there are plenty of great spots for food where you can try popular sweets trending on social media as well as classic Japanese wagashi treats.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple
