At the Waraku Asakusa store, we accept rentals until 4:00 PM. If you choose the next-day return option, you can enjoy sightseeing until the evening without worrying about the time. You can return the kimono at your own pace between 9:30 AM and 12:00 noon the following day.

Same-Day Kimono Rental & Preparation Time

Here’s the basic flow for your rental: arrival → reception → choosing your kimono and accessories → dressing → hairstyling → luggage storage → and then you’re ready to go.
On average, dressing takes about 15 minutes, hairstyling about 15 minutes, and choosing your kimono, reception, and payment take around 20–30 minutes. The earlier your reservation, the more time you’ll have to enjoy exploring Asakusa in kimono.
If you come closer to our final reception time at 4:00 PM, there will be less time left to enjoy wearing your kimono. For example, if you arrive at 4:00 PM and it takes 45 minutes to an hour to get ready, you’ll only have about 30 to 45 minutes to walk around in kimono before returning.
Our shop is just a 1-minute walk from Asakusa Station, 3 minutes from Senso-ji Temple and Kaminarimon, 2 minutes from Nakamise Shopping Street, and 1 minute from Shin-Nakamise Shopping Street. With such convenient access to major Asakusa sightseeing spots, you can enjoy a fulfilling visit even with limited time for strolling. Additionally, we assist customers with dressing and hairstyling in the order they choose their kimono, so those who decide on their kimono and accessories quickly can get ready even faster.

Are there enough kimono available for same-day rentals?

At Waraku Asakusa, all our kimono, including popular lace and retro styles, are the same price. We keep a large stock of lace kimono to make sure we have enough for same-day customers. We offer over 10 colors, including white, black, pink, light blue, black-red, blue, and brown. Many groups choose different colors when they visit. We also regularly add new retro-style kimono, many of which are unique, so you can enjoy a selection that’s different from other stores.
Since we always restock our kimono, even customers with same-day reservations will have plenty of options. We have many popular lace-collared styles, and you can have fun adding different obi (belt) and accessories. Our classic designs are especially popular, featuring traditional floral patterns like camellias and chrysanthemums for a beautiful, vintage look. Many customers who have tried retro or lace styles choose to try classic designs next. These patterns are perfect for all ages, which is one reason we recommend them. We’re also seeing many parents enjoying matching outfits with their children.

With our online reservation system, you can check the availability for same-day rentals in real time. Reservations can be made up to 30 minutes before your desired rental time, so you can book after arriving in Asakusa based on your schedule. Except for events like New Year’s and fireworks festivals, or during March, we’re generally less busy, so please check availability online and make your reservation in advance.
