All of our rental plans come complete with kimono, accessories, and free baggage storage — just show up empty-handed and you’re good to go! We also provide hair styling at no additional charge – everything is included in the set price. Similarly, we can offer men’s Haori (outerwear) at no extra cost in cooler seasons. However, please note that there is a 550 yen fee to store suitcases.
Time Needed from Arrival to Departure
On average, the entire process takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on how long you take to choose your kimono and accessories. During less busy periods, it may take as little as 45 minutes to an hour.
Our shop opens at 9:30 AM, and mornings tend to be smoother with shorter wait times — plus, the earlier you arrive, the longer you can enjoy your kimono outing!

Rental process

1. Reservation
Please book from our website at any time with the 24-hour booking form. We recommend booking early during summer and winter holidays. If you plan to reserve on the day of a firework festival, we suggest booking two or three weeks in advance.

2. Reception
Please tell us the name of your booking when you come to the store. We will ask you to fill in a form, then proceed to payment. You can still add extras to your plan later.

3. Choosing your kimono and accessories
Our store offers a range of popular retro designs and fun vibrant styles. Choose the kimono and accessories that you like most.
4. Dressing & hair styling
Once you’ve chosen your outfit and accessories, we’ll dress and style you. It usually takes about 15 minutes to dress you in the kimono, and another 15-20 minutes to style your hair. You’ll also need some time to store your belongings and change out of your everyday clothes, so please arrive with plenty of time.

5. Departure
Once we have stored your belongings, you can go out in your kimono. Please return to the store by 5:30 PM.
6. Return
The store is especially busy for returns between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM, so we recommend arriving earlier for a speedy return. Please be sure to return to the store with plenty of time.
FAQ for first-time kimono rental
If I arrive later than the reserved time, can I still rent a kimono?
Running a bit late? If it’s within 10 minutes of your reservation, no worries. For delays of 30 minutes or more, just give us a call and we’ll adjust your schedule.
Do I need to bring anything?
Our kimono rental plans include a kimono set and accessories set, so you don’t need to bring anything. You can also store your belongings at no extra cost. When you arrive at the store, we will give you a bag to hold your belongings. Please note that there is a 550 yen fee to store suitcases.
Should I bring anything for renting a kimono in winter?
In the cooler seasons, you might want to bring a shawl or scarf to wear over your kimono. As kimono are worn with sandals even in winter, we also recommend heating pads for your feet so they don’t get cold. You can also wear thermal layers under the inner layers of the kimono.
Renting kimono in winter
Until when do I need to return my rental?
Please return to the store by 5:30pm. We are not able to accept same-day returns later than this, outside of special events. We also offer next-day return as an optional add-on if you need it.
Can middle school and high school students use the student discount plan?
Yes, middle school and high school students can use the student plan. Please bring your student ID. The student plan is open to all students regardless of age or nationality. You do not need to be accompanied by a guardian.
Can I add the rickshaw option after booking?
Yes, you can add the rickshaw option after booking. Please ask the staff before you leave if you have any such requests. We may not be able to fulfill your request in busy seasons, so we recommend booking in advance.
Can you do makeup?
We offer hair styling, but not makeup. Please come with your makeup applied.
Can I rent kimono even if it’s raining?
Yes. Rainy days are typically less crowded, so you can get your kimono rental quickly. There is also greater availability of popular kimono and accessories. We have a limited number of Japanese paper umbrellas that we can lend at no additional cost. If you’re worried about getting the kimono wet or dirty, there is a 330 yen insurance option that you can use.
How can I cancel my reservation?
To cancel your booking, please use the cancellation URL in the confirmation email. There is no cancellation charge for cancellations made ahead of the reserved date.
Is the rental the same cost regardless of the time worn?
Our store reception is open for dressing from 9:30am to 4:00pm. The rental cost is the same regardless of the start time. If you rent earlier, you can enjoy your kimono or Yukata for longer at the same price. The last return time is 5:30pm as standard.

This is the standard price range for everyday kimono for visiting the area. Some stores may categorize each style into different tiers or plans, or stock only a very small selection to keep prices low.

Typical prices for couples range from ¥6.000 to ¥10,000
Most kimono rental stores in Kamakura offer discounted packages for couples looking to spend a day in kimono together. However, check in advance that the plan includes everything you need – some shops charge separately for hair styling or outerwear for men.

Typical prices for groups range from 2,500–4,000 yen per person
A lot of kimono rental stories have discounts available when you book as a group. Some group plans are only available for female visitors, so check in advance if you’re looking to rent as a mixed group or a group of men.

We have group discounts available even for small groups of three or more, open to any gender mix. Men’s kimono rental can be more expensive than women’s, so we especially recommend booking as a group.
Typical student discount prices range from 3,000–5,000 yen per person
Student plans are very popular among young people looking to enjoy a day in kimono. Make sure you research in advance to see if the set includes hair styling or if it has limitations on styles you can choose. Sightseeing hotspots to make the most of Kamakura in kimono

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine (5 minutes away)
This famous shrine is a must-see for anyone visiting Kamakura in kimono, bustling with 10 million visitors each year. The raised walkway leading up to the shrine is said to grant good fortune in matters of love, adding to the romance of strolling down this beautiful avenue whether you’re a couple or someone looking for luck in love. The shrine and surrounding areas are full of charming spots to take pictures in your kimono for a memorable day.

Komachi Street (0 minutes away)
As you step out of Kamakura Station on the east side, you’ll see a gate that marks the entrance to Komachi Street, a long shopping street home to more than 200 shops selling food and souvenirs. Take a stroll down this road to taste famous eye-catching Japanese snacks and discover interesting souvenir shops selling traditional goods. The end of Komachi Street takes you to Tsuragaoka Hachimangu Shrine, so it’s an ideal route for sightseeing.

Hokokuji’s Bamboo Forest
Hokokuji Temple isn’t walking distance from Kamakura Station, but it’s so beautiful we can’t help but recommend visiting.
A ten-minute journey by bus or taxi will bring you to this temple, home to a quiet idyllic bamboo grove that’s designated as a three-star Green Michelin spot. As you explore the forest area, you’ll come across a cafe hidden among the bamboo where you can enjoy green tea and traditional sweets, away from the noise of the city.
There are no kimono rental stores close to the temple, so it’s best to rent your kimono in central Kamakura and then make your way to the temple.
