Wagaku Kyoto Kimono Rental has four stores in Kyoto: Gion, Kiyomizu, Kyoto Station, and Arashiyama.

Gion Store
Just a 1-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station (Keihan Main Line) and 4 minutes from Kawaramachi Station (Hankyu Kyoto Line). You’re super close to popular spots like Yasaka Shrine, Hanami-koji Street, and the Kamogawa River. It’s also near great food spots, making it perfect for a couple’s yukata date in Kyoto.

Kiyomizu Store
Only 5 minutes on foot from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Kodaiji Temple, this location is ideal for a yukata stroll around Kyoto. With over 500 yukata styles to choose from and plenty of accessories, you can easily create a cute and unique look. How much time you’ll need before you head out

Dressing takes about 15 minutes, and hairstyling takes another 15 minutes. But when you factor in checking in, choosing your yukata and accessories, and swapping your bags, it usually takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. If it’s not busy, we can get you ready in about 45 minutes. During peak seasons, it’s best to estimate around 1 hour. The exact time depends on how long you take to pick out your yukata and accessories, so please use this as a rough estimate.

・Yukata sizes fit women approximately between 145 cm (4’9”) and 175 cm (5’9”), and men between 155 cm (5’1”) and 190 cm (6’3”).
・The “next-day return” option cannot be added after payment. Please be sure to select it when you book or before you pay. Note: We do not offer mail-in returns.
・Please return your yukata directly to the store.

Recommended Date Spots in Kyoto for Couple Yukata Rentals

Yasaka-Shrine

Yasaka Shrine in Gion is the main head shrine of all Yasaka Shrines across Japan and a must-visit spot for couples renting yukata in Kyoto. Its bright vermilion main hall is a designated national treasure and looks amazing paired with retro-style yukata!
The shrine grounds have plenty to see, including the “Bi Gozen Shrine,” known for beauty blessings, and the “Okuninushi Shrine,” dedicated to the god of matchmaking.
Strolling around Yasaka Shrine in yukata feels like stepping back in time. It’s one of the most famous temples in Kyoto’s Higashiyama area, so be sure to visit here when you rent yukata as a couple!

Keage Incline

Keage Incline is a popular sightseeing spot in Kyoto, about a 10-minute taxi ride from Gion-Shijo Station. It’s a 582-meter-long old railway track and becomes a stunning cherry blossom viewing spot in spring.

Sitting by the riverbank to relax and chat is also a great way to spend time together.

The traditional streets and historic buildings around the temple go beautifully with yukata, and you’ll see lots of couples dressed up strolling here. Since Kyoto can get pretty hot in summer, we offer yukata made from cool, comfortable fabrics. Couples can even coordinate their yukata colors and obi for a cute matching look!
Our Kyoto Kiyomizu store is about a 3-minute walk from the “Kiyomizuzaka” bus stop, and a 16-minute walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station—so taking a taxi might be easier.
